REE belong to the most important raw materials of the 21st century, which are used in a large number of key technologies. However, due to the fact that almost 97% of the world's REE are mined and produced in China, REE have become an ongoing political issue, mainly amongst technology providing countries like the US, Japan and Western Europe.

Min­er­al por­trait olivine (ger­man)Olivine is not a separate mineral, but a member belonging to the forsterite-fayalite mixing series. Olivine belongs to the olivin-groupe whose end-members are calcio-olivine and tephroite. Forsterite is a magnesium silicate; fayalite an iron silicate. If commonly is spoken of olivine, it is usually a more or less iron-rich forsterite. The color of olivine is generally yellowish green, olive green to black. Ge­ol­o­gische Streifzüge auf Ibiza... Ähnlich ist es um die geologischen und mineralogischen Kenntnisse Ibizas bestellt. Zwar erschienen die ersten geognostisch - geologischen Arbeiten über die Balearen bereits recht früh (VIDAL & MOLINA 1888), jedoch stammt die erste detaillierte geologische Karte erst aus dem Jahr 1935 (HAANSTRA 1935; SPIKER 1935). Diese ist mit Modifikationen auch heute noch gebräuchlich. Insgesamt betrachtet sind deutschsprachige geologische Veröffentlichungen seither erstaunlich rar geblieben, was angesichts der zahlreichen deutschen Pensionäre, die sich auf Ibiza niedergelassen haben, doch verwundert. Auch die umfangreiche Bautätigkeit der letzten Jahrzehnte, die auch ehedem unzugängliche Plätze leicht erreichbar machte und darüber hinaus hervorragende Aufschlüsse schuf, blieb bedauerlicherweise geologisch - paläontologisch weitgehend undokumentiert... Peter Seroka has addressed the issue in several years of work and has written an up-to-date geological summary. He dedicated his work to the 15 th anniversary of Mineralienatlas. The work gives detailed information regarding the origin of deposits, the different types of deposits and their classification. Examples of economically important deposits complete the chapters. Provided that this comprehensive work would be printed it would be a volume of over 400 pages; here it is provided in its entirety, online. Thanks to Peter Seroka. (written in german language).

The "Eisen­ham­mer" (iron ham­mer) to He­im­buchen­thal The former "Eisenhammer" (iron hammer) to Heimbuchenthal has to show a very interesting history. The hammer mill established at the beginning of the 18th century reached at the end of the 18th century in the possession of the family Rexroth under whose guidance the company came to the full blossom. The squires showed a high social engagement which was reflected in the reimbursement of the workers, but also in the enlargement of the entrance ways. In specially constructed schools up to 30 children were teaches on the hammer mill property. On one, from oaks surrounded cemetery the late squires and their members were buried. In 1891 the company was discontinued and the hammer mill was converted into a court estate. From the industrial monument all buildings except the great smithy are even today in a very good state.

The Mu­nich Show 2025The Mineralientage München 2025 – The Munich Show once again showcased a fascinating variety of minerals, fossils, and jewelry. Although visitor numbers appeared slightly lower than last year, the fair remained vibrant and diverse. Highlights included the collector displays and the special exhibition on natural resources, while the fossil section was somewhat smaller.
Some visitors expressed a wish for more seating areas, opportunities for exchange, and more eye-catching advertising, yet overall the event left a very positive impression and remains a must-visit for collectors and families alike.
