Pfaf­fers­bech­er Schüt­ten - Le­bach­er Ei­erDie "Lebacher Eier" entstanden vor etwa 250 bis 280 Millionen Jahren zur Zeit des Perm. Im Gebiet des heutigen Ortes Lebach im Saarland bis nach Bad Kreuznach erstreckte sich ein weit ausgedehnter Binnensee, der eine Fläche bedeckte, die ungefähr dreimal so groß wie der Bodensee gewesen sein dürfte.

In diesem nicht so flachen See, der durch verzweigte Flusssysteme gespeißt wurde, selbst jedoch keinen größeren Strömungen unterworfen war, fand sich eine gut, durch Funde belegte, Flora und Fauna. Das Klima war nicht mehr so tropisch wie während der vorangegangenen Karbon-Zeit, sondern trockener. Das wiederum führte zur Bildung von lokalen Biotopen, wie sie hier in Form dieses Seebeckens vorlagen.

Grube Her­mine im Wölsen­dor­fer Re­vi­er... In dem Grubenfeld waren vor 1940 mehrere Kleinbetriebe tätig, die die einzelnen Gänge an völlig unterschiedlichen Stellen zuerst in Tagröschen und später mittels Schlepp- (tonnlägiger Schacht, d.h. im Gang abgeteuft) oder Saigerschacht ausgebeutet hatten. An keiner Stelle hat es allerdings, wie es bei allen anderen Gruben üblich war, eine Konzentration an einem bestimmten Standort gegeben und so kam es mit Hilfe der Reichsregierung zwischen 1940 und 1942 dazu, dass die Grube Hermine ins Leben gerufen wurde. Wenn der II. Weltkrieg nicht ausgebrochen wäre, weil Flußspat dringend für Rüstungszwecke gebraucht wurde, dann hätte es unter Umständen die Grube Hermine gar nicht gegeben und die Gänge wären von Grube Cäcilia und Grube Erika abgebaut worden. ... Ge­o­log­ic and min­er­a­log­i­cal ex­pe­di­tion through Namibia and the Na­maqua­landReport about a geologic - and geology of deposits excursion through central and southern Namibia as well as the Namaqualand bordering to the South and parts of the Northern cape in autumn, 2009., Amongst other localities in Namibia the author visited the tin deposit Uis, the explorations project Namib Lead near Swakopmund, as well as the important mines Rosh Pinah and Scorpion Zinc in the south of Namibia. In the Republic South Africa the trip led to the copper mining region of Okiep as well as the lead zinc mines of Aggeneys and, finally, to the Kalahari manganese ore districts of Postmasburg and Kuruman.

The Mu­nich Show 2025The Mineralientage München 2025 – The Munich Show once again showcased a fascinating variety of minerals, fossils, and jewelry. Although visitor numbers appeared slightly lower than last year, the fair remained vibrant and diverse. Highlights included the collector displays and the special exhibition on natural resources, while the fossil section was somewhat smaller.
Some visitors expressed a wish for more seating areas, opportunities for exchange, and more eye-catching advertising, yet overall the event left a very positive impression and remains a must-visit for collectors and families alike.

Dev­il's Pul­pitActually, this is a picturesque place in a well-kept forest. Nevertheless, in the past, evil itself is said to have preached to the damned here from a large, solitary, towering rock spur. Today, the term Devil's Pulpit inspires one to play with associations, as do the drawings of agates found here. Their fantastic outlines, coupled with the unusual shape of the secondary rock, evoke images in the viewer that he would not have suspected in a stone. And on the devil's pulpit no longer an evil demon is waiting for the agate collector, but other executive powers threatening with purgatory... a contribution by Klaus Schäfer and others (in german)

Von den weltweit wenigen Fundorten (darunter Brasilien, Sri Lanka und Zimbabwe) sind die russischen Alexandrite die hochwertigsten, da sie im Gegensatz zu den meist weniger kräftig gefärbten Steinen aus den anderen Ländern ihre Farbe von einem intensiven smaragdgrün zu einem tiefen purpurrot wechseln. Die Originalfundstelle im Ural war nach mehreren Jahrzehnten Abbau erschöpft und nur wenige dieser berühmten Alexandrite tauchen ab und zu auf dem Markt auf. Neuere Funde stammen aus Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Tansania, Tasmanien, Indien und Myanmar (Burma), besitzen jedoch nicht den starken Farbwechsel der russischen Alexandrite. Im Jahr 1987 entdeckte man in Hematita (Minas Gerais) in Brasilien Alexandrite, welche nahe an die Qualität der historischen russischen Steine herankommen und einen attraktiven ...
